Becoming Peace Builders in Our Communities
Rabbi Nancy Fuchs Kreimer, Ph.D., ’82, director of multifaith studies and initiatives at the College, invited Rabbi Amy Eilberg, author of From Enemy to Friend: Jewish Wisdom on the Pursuit of Peace, and Rabbi Daniel Roth, Ph.D., director of the Pardes Center of Judaism and Conflict Resolution in Jerusalem, to combine their talents for the first time in 2015. This resulted in a powerful experience for eight rabbinical students and four graduates, who took a week-long intensive course in Jewish texts and peace-building. In a separate session, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish community leaders met for a related one-day workshop.
In this video, Rabbis Eilberg and Roth discuss why rabbis need peace-building skills and how multifaith text study can help ensure that all religions are encouraging peace. Special thanks to the Henry Luce Foundation for making both sessions possible as well as to all of the participants.
