Rabbi Michelle Stern (

Rabbi Michelle Stern (‘11)

Rabbi Michelle Stern, BCC, who joined CJE SeniorLife three years ago to support seniors and their families on their journey through the aging process, has received the Samuel A. Goldsmith Young Professional Award from the Jewish Federation of Chicago. (Acceptance speech)

The award, which was presented at the Federation’s Annual Meeting Sept. 17, recognizes Jewish professionals under 40 whose exemplary performance at a Jewish agency in the Chicago area has benefited the entire Jewish community.

Stern is the rabbi and chaplain at CJE SeniorLife, connecting with residents and clients throughout the system’s continuum of care – from adult day care to assisted living to skilled and memory care. Her presence and support calm individuals moving from one level to another, easing the anxiety that comes with change and loss.

Stern moved to Chicago from Baltimore three years ago, and now lives in Evanston with her husband, Eitan Kimchi, and their children.
